Neymar Jr cries in pain recovering from ACL injury

Neymar Jr., who is rehabilitating from a damaged ACL and meniscus, uploaded a rehab video on YouTube.

Neymar Jr, one of the world’s top footballers in the previous decade, has been troubled by injuries. He has missed 153 appearances for club and country due to injury since joining Paris Saint-Germain in a record-breaking deal in 2017. During the international break in October, Neymar tore his anterior cruciate ligament and tore his meniscus. With his season completed, the Brazilian has posted a video on Instagram detailing his recuperation journey.

The video shows Neymar undergoing physiotherapy but being unable to cope with the agony. He screams in anguish as he straightens his leg, unable to bear the discomfort.

During breaks, the 31-year-old is also seen spending time with his newborn daughter, Mavie, sleeping on his chest. With his ACL and meniscus now ruptured, there is a good chance Neymar won’t return to football till the 24/25 season. His team, Al-Hilal, would most certainly deregister him because the Saudi Pro League only permits 8 foreign players on a roster. They will return to Europe in search of a successor, but the Brazilian will continue to play for the Riyadh-based club.

With Neymar set to be deregistered, Al-Hilal has already identified a number of potential replacements for the injured winger. Raphinha, a Brazilian winger currently employed by FC Barcelona, is one of the players on their shortlist.

They are also connected with the English winger, Jadon Sancho, who has had a very public falling out with Erik ten Hag. Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian forward at Napoli, is also a strong prospect.
