Liverpool Transfer News: Is Liverpool Signing Jacob Ramsey?

Liverpool Transfer News: The rumours about Aston Villa player Jacob Ramsey and Liverpool are true. GOAL (through HITC) reports that Ramsey is one of many potential midfield additions for the Reds. The 21-year-old is on the list including Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton & Hove Albion, Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich, and Mason Mount of Chelsea.

The Athletic reported earlier this month that Liverpool is no longer in the running to sign Jude Bellingham, so rumours of the Villa player to Anfield are rather surprising. The Reds don’t want to spend a fortune on Bellingham since Borussia Dortmund will want an exorbitant transfer price.

It’s worth noting that Ramsey was praised by former Villa manager and Liverpool star Steven Gerrard, who was in charge from November 2021 to October 2022.

The remarks about Ramsey were made by the former midfielder after Ramsey scored two goals in the first half of Villa’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United in February of last year. In 94 appearances with the Villains in all competitions, the teenager has scored 10 goals and provided 8 assists.

Like the rest of Aston Villa, Jacob Ramsey had a rough start to the season. The first few months of the season under Steven Gerrard were a struggle.

The appointment of Unai Emery at Villa Park, however, has resulted in a remarkable revival of the team’s fortunes. Under the Spanish manager’s tutelage, Villa has won 12 of 20 games and has scored an astounding 36 goals.

One of the people who has benefited from Emery’s arrival is Ramsey. After starting the season with only one goal and one assist in 14 games, the teenager has exploded under the former Arsenal manager, scoring four goals and dishing out five assists in 17 games.

He’ll be hoping to keep up his solid play as Villa tries to finish in the top six of the Premier League and earn a spot in Europe for the next season.
