Is Real Madrid selling Ferland Mendy this summer?
It has been speculated that Real Madrid would want to sell Ferland Mendy during the forthcoming summer transfer season. Mendy, 27 years old, has not lived up to his €48 million transfer from Lyon to Carlo Ancelotti’s team in the summer of 2019. Two La Liga championships are among the eight trophies he’s won for his club thus far.
The nine-time France international was an integral part of Los Blancos’ historic double success last season, but this year he has been relegated to the team’s bench. He has only played for 1913 total minutes over 26 games.
Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, reportedly has had it up to here with Mendy’s lack of team spirit and professionalism, as reported by El Nacional. To prepare for the next summer, the La Liga club would want to sell him.
Despite being under contract with Santiago Bernabeu until June 2025, Los Blancos have started the new year with Eduardo Camavinga at left back instead of Mendy. The young talent from Le Havre is now behind the likes of Nacho Fernandez and David Alaba, with Antonio Rudiger even filling in as a substitute.
Mendy has played 131 games for Carlo Ancelotti’s team, scoring five goals and assisting on ten more. According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports, Real Madrid is keen on acquiring Bayern Munich player Alphonso Davies. The Premier League’s Manchester City are also interested in signing the left-back this summer.

MARCA reports that MLS club CF Montreal is interested in acquiring the services of Real Madrid star Eden Hazard. The Canadian club has not yet submitted a formal offer to sign the Belgian. Hazard, on the other hand, plans to stay at Real Madrid until the end of his contract in June 2024. Florentino Perez, president of Los Blancos, is keen to get rid of the two-time Premier League champion, though.
It has been reported that Perez, who has made no secret of his dissatisfaction with Hazard, is keen to free up the €23 million in salary that Hazard now commands. He plans to use the forward as a springboard for his summer recruiting efforts. Hazard has not had much of an impact since joining the La Liga club from Chelsea for about €140 million in 2019. In 76 games played, he has just seven goals and twelve assists to show for it.
