Chelsea closing in on the deal with Santos to sign Deivid Washington
Deivid Washington is all set to make his way into the Chelsea squad after his current club Santos closes in to finalize the deal. The Brazilian club has decided to leave the 18-year-old forward out of their squad in a transfer with Chelsea.
As per reports, the Blues prepare to pay €15 million for his services, plus €5m in add-ons. Personal terms are the only hurdle in the final signing of the 18-year-old into the Chelsea squad. Chelsea would be signing Washington this week after Santos president Andres Rueda told manager Paulo Turra to leave the player out of his squad. Washington will undergo medicals before signing in for his new club.
Deivid Washington to join the Blues this summer
Washington has had a very impressive season. He netted the ball six times in his 22 appearances during a breakout season for Santos. Monaco had also shown interest in signing the Brazilian youngster after missing out on Christopher Nkunku due to injury. They are in desperate need of a striker and Washington would have served them their needs.
Santos were happier with the Ligue 1 side’s initial offer but the Blues made their way out with Thiago Silva having been in contact with the striker to pitch the club to him. Chelsea finally made a successful deal of €15 million to sign the striker.
Born in 2005, Deivid Washington has attracted interest from around Europe. He emerged through Santos’ senior team. He made his professional debut in April after renewing his contract with Santos. He scored his first senior goal a month later, scoring in the 3-0 home win over Bahia.
The 18-year-old just made his debut this April and has appeared in 9 instances in the league stage. He scored two goals for his senior team and has been in the news after his incredible performance. He is being seen as a future star in the making and many sides have been looking up to the youngster.
