Newcastle United is considering making a move for free agent, David de Gea following Nick Pope’s shoulder injury

David de Gea has been linked with a return to Manchester United.

During Newcastle United‘s triumph against Manchester United, Nick Pope sustained a horrible injury. He fell awkwardly to the ground in the 81st minute while attempting to clear the ball. Following that, the referee requested medical help, and he was replaced by Martin Dubravka three minutes later.

Fans were hopeful that it wasn’t something severe at the moment. Many were disappointed when it was later found that he had dislocated his left shoulder. According to new sources, the English GK might be sidelined for 4-5 months. That meant he’d be out for most of the season. With his club now looking for a new custodian, they have kept the revered Spaniard on their radar.

Newcastle United would not have to wait until January to sign him because he is a free agent. Clubs can sign free agents at any moment throughout the season because they are not under contract to any team. Dubravka will be Eddie Howe‘s first-choice keeper until the Magpies make a deal, with his debut against Everton on Thursday night.

Eddie Howe now needs to find a suitable successor for Nick Pope, who has been confirmed to be out for 4-5 months. David de Gea is one of the players who have been shortlisted, but many more keepers on the market appear to be interested in the transfer. Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal, who has lost his starting berth to loanee David Raya, is one alternative. Former West Ham and Arsenal custodian Lukasz Fabianski has been replaced by Alphonso Areola.

Hugo Lloris is another possibility. Guglielmo Vicario has taken over as the previous French Captain, and he has yet to start a game this season.
