Galatasaray – Top three transfers of the 2023/24 season
Turkish club Galatasaray has been doing an excellent job this season to build a balanced side for the upcoming season 2023/24. They have been very active in the transfer window this summer and have signed some big names into their side. The 23 times Süper Lig champions will be marching towards the next season with a strong squad. The defending champions of the Süper Lig will be looking to retain their title again this time.
Internationally Galatasaray won the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 2000. According to IFFHS World Rankings Galatasaray is the best Turkish club of the 20th century, and the 20th most successful club in Europe. The Turkish side has been highly effective in terms of bringing more and more talented players to their squad thereby strengthening their chances to excel in the upcoming season. Here are the team’s top three signings of the 2023/24 season:
1) Mauro Icardi – The Argentine Striker playing for Galatasaray since last year when he was signed as a loan player. Galatasaray made him permanent this year after being successful with the side last season. He was signed with a salary of €6 million per year and a transfer fee of €10 million was paid to his former club Paris Saint-Germain. Icardi has played 33 matches for Galatasaray and has scored 30 goals in these two seasons. He is doing extremely well for the side and is one of the best signings for Galatasaray.
2) Davidson Sanchez – The Colombian professional footballer joined the Turkish side this season for a transfer fee of €9.5m. After a successful go with his previous club Tottenham Hotspur for seven years Sanchez signed this deal to start his Süper Lig career. He is yet to debut for his new side. The 27-year-old has got enough experience in defense which will be helpful for Galatasaray. He has made 55 appearances for his national side and also has one international goal beside his name.
3) Wilfred Zaha – Ex-Manchester United player Wilfred Zaha has made his debut for his new side this season. The Süper Lig side announced his arrival after the successful signing of a three-year-old contract with a signing-on fee of €2.35m and an annual salary of €4.35m. Zaha has been in good form last season scoring seven goals in only 27 appearances for his previous club Crystal Palace. Zaha started his career with Crystal Palace and has played most of his career for the same side. He returned to the side again and has made a total of 275 appearances scoring 67 goals in his last tenure with the Premier League club.
