Yan Sommer makes Serie A move following Bundesliga exit
Bayern Munich’s Yan Sommer is all set to join Serie A club, Inter Milan. The negotiations with regard to the player’s transfer were taking place over the past few days.The player had earlier spent six half a season with Bayern after joining the club during the winter transfer last year.
Bayern had added him to their squad in an attempt to find a short term replacement for Neuer who had injured himself after the World Cup in Qatar. Inter who had to part ways with Andre Onana recently do have a replacement now. Sommer shall be the first choice goalkeeper for his side hereon for certain.
Sommer to be a part of Inter Milan next season onwards
Fabrizio Romano via his official revelation let everyone know that Yan Sommer’s move to Inter Milan is almost a done deal. The deal regarding the goalkeeper’s transfer is worth £6m (total fee). The medicals are scheduled for Monday. Sommer shall be arriving in Italy on Sunday to complete his move. His duties between the sticks for his new club are supposedly going to begin from next season onwards in all probabilities.
Sommer began his senior career with FC Basel in 2006 aged 18. He spent the most significant period of his career at Borussia Mönchengladbach, a team which he joined in the 2014/15 season. During his 8 and a half year stay at the club, he played a total of 335 games, accumulating 90 clean sheets in total in the meantime. His most recent move to Bayern saw him make 25 appearances for the club wherein he kept 8 clean sheets.
Inter Milan on the other hand have been in fairly good form lately. The team finished fourth in the league last season. A top four finish means the team shall be featuring in the upcoming season’s Champions league. The side reached the finals of the champions league last season before losing the all important game against Man City. The main motto would be to achieve better results with consistent performances both in Serie A and the Champions League. The onus will be on the team’s new signings including goalkeeper Yan Sommer to help the side achieve its objectives hereon.
