There have been rumours that Ligue 1 heavyweights PSG and Newcastle United might compete for the services of Napoli sensation Victor Osimhen. Nevertheless, PSG and Newcastle United already face stiff competition from a number of other clubs.

Whatever happens this summer with PSG’s three superstar attackers, the French club may soon enter the fray to sign the Nigerian international, as reported by writer Ciro Venerato.

Luis Campos may look to Osimhen as a solution to PSG’s future offensive woes if Lionel Messi’s contract expires at the end of the season and Neymar and Kylian Mbappe continues to be linked with transfers away from Paris.

Venerato said: “PSG could be a club interested in Osimhen, in which case we will also have to wait for what happens from their end as the window opens. Everything is possible with Osimhen, but we will have to wait for the end of the season for further developments.”

Even though Newcastle had an £84m proposal rejected by Napoli for the £107m-rated attacker, according to Rudy Galetti, Spurs are ready to recruit the 24-year-old if Harry Kane left, PSG is one of the wealthiest teams in the sport, so adding Osimhen will be no problem financially for the French giants.

Certainly, the competition to recruit Osimhen will be one of the frenzied and crazy in the forthcoming summer window, and if PSG is to lose a major attacker, the French team may quickly become the obvious favourite to capture the Serie A superstar.

Since the summer of 2021, when they endured possibly the most insane transfer window in history, culminating with the acquisition of Lionel Messi from FC Barcelona, PSG has hardly shown off their enormous fortune. If one of their great strikers goes, the French club might make a major play to recruit Osimhen this year. Osimhen is a Nigerian international and could be a great acquisition for PSG if he decides to leave the Premier League. But, the opportunity to play for PSG alongside Mbappe and Messi may be too wonderful to pass up.
