Real Betis confirm signing of Marc Bartra on a one-year contract

Former Real Betis defender Marc Bartra all set to return just a year after he left the club. The central defender who had featured in Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona has signed with his former club Real Betis for free after terminating his deal with Turkish side Trabzonspor.

The 32 year old moved for €1.25m last summer to Trabzon but after missing out on Europe this summer they were looking to cut the cost. Betis, while looking for a replacement for their outgoing Edgar Gonzalez and Victor Ruiz, signed their veteran central defender Bartra back for a one year deal. The 32-year-old is expected to add experience back to Benito Villamarin, although is likely to be behind Luiz Felipe and German Pezzella.

Marc Bartra rejoins Real Betis for a one-year contract:

Marc Bartra left Real Betis last year to join a Turkish side but things fell apart after them not making it to the European competitions. Marc Bartra was left as a free agent whom Real Betis signed for a one year contract. Bartra joined for a seventh year in the last eight years, having initially signed in 2016. Bartra made his way to Real Betis after their urgent need of a replacement for each of their two outgoing defenders and the exit of Sergio Canales.

Bartra started off his career with Barcelona in 2009 and played seven seasons making 103 appearances and scoring six goals. He then moved on to Borussia Dortmund and played two Bundesliga season featuring in 51 matches and scoring five goals. Real Betis signed him in 2017 and where he made 146 La Liga appearances scoring seven goals in total. In 2022 he left Real Betis and joined the Turkish club Trabzonspor where he made 40 appearances in one season and scored four goals. But after their failure to make it to Europe, he terminated his contract with the Turkish side and is now being signed up by his former club Real Betis for a one year contract. Marc made his debut for Spain in 2013 and made 14 appearances till 2018 when he last played and international match. He have one goal in his 14 appearances.
