Newcastle United are considering trading Alexander Isak to Juventus
To facilitate a trade for Dusan Vlahovic, Newcastle United are considering trading Alexander Isak to Juventus. But, a direct exchange is unlikely to go through with the Serie A club this summer.
CalcioMercatoWeb says Eddie Howe is considering transferring Isak to Turin in order to sign Vlahovic. The coach at Newcastle wants to strengthen his offence this offseason. Within a year of taking over in Tyneside, he may thus decide to release the Swedish international.
Newcastle paid a then-record £63 million to acquire Isak from Real Sociedad in August. However, the 23-year-old suffered a thigh injury in September that put a damper on his first season. The 37-cap superstar has scored four goals in nine Premier League appearances, six of which he began.
On Saturday, Isak scored his latest goal to help Newcastle beat Wolves 2-1 at St. James’ Park. Yet despite having a £120k weekly deal until June 2028, Howe may be looking to go on. Isak wouldn’t be enough for Juventus to consider a trade including Vlahovic.
Now, Newcastle is considering a direct swap trade with Juventus in which they would give Isak for Vlahovic. If the 23-year-old Serbian leaves Turin at the conclusion of the season, the Serie A club will try to make as much money as possible out of him, which makes the Bianconeri hesitant to accept the agreement.
Will the deal go through?
In January of 2022, Vlahovic was signed by Juventus from Fiorentina for a reported €70m (£61.5m), with a further €10m (£9m) in prospective add-ons. He also settled on a weekly salary of £220,000 until June of 2026. The international has 19 caps, although he has just 10 goals in 26 games this season.
After suffering a groin injury, the Serbian has only played 17 times in Serie A, scoring eight goals. From October to January, Vlahovic was unable to play because of it, and since then, he has scored only twice in the Italian league. The 7th of February saw the first appearance of both goals in a 3-0 victory against Salernitana.
The Italian news outlet Sport Mediaset claims that Vlahovic’s agent has been contacting possible bidders and that Juventus values him at €100m (£88m). Several clubs in Europe, including those in the Premier League, have reached out to Darko Ristic in an attempt to learn more about him and gauge their interest in a possible transfer.
Bianconeri legend Alessio Tacchinardi has praised a striker as “amazing,” and he has been linked to a move to Paris Saint-Germain. There have been recent reports from CalcioMercatoWeb claiming the Ligue 1 club is prepared to spend an initial €60m (£53m). Thus, it’s possible that Newcastle has to increase their offer.
