Lovro Majer joins German club following Rennes exit
Rennes player Lovro Majer has signed for a Bundesliga club via this summer’s transfer window. The negotiations with respect to the player’s move were taking place over the past few days. Majer, who has been a part of Rennes over the past couple of years, has now parted ways with the club to join none other than Wolfsburg. The Croatian player’s move was being expected by many following his poor outing in his second season with Rennes in 2023/24. The player’s move to the German club is a complete one as per the confirmations of several sources.
Lovro Majer to join Wolfsburg on a permanent deal
Fabrizio Romano via his official revelation let everyone know that Lovro Majer’s transfer to Wolfsburg has been completed. The player has been signed for a sum of £30m plus the add ons of £5m. The contract shall be valid for the next next 5 years i.e until June 2028. Majer has now become the second most expensive signing in the club’s history after Julian Draxler.
Lovro majer who was born in 1998 began his senior career with Lokomotiva in the 2016/17 season at the age of 18. He made 62 appearances for the club in 2 years scoring 18 goals. Thereon he made a move to Dinamo Zagreb wherein he stayed for a period of four years. He played 100 games for the club during his tenure and scored 19 goals in the meantime. His time with his most recent club, Rennes saw him play 78 matches in two years scoring 9 goals.
Wolfsburg on the other hand haven’t been in good form lately. The side finished 8th in the league last season. With just 49 points in 34 matches overall, the side failed to book it’s slot in any of the European competitions for the upcoming season. The team’s major motto will be to achieve better results in the upcoming league season, thereby find their way into the European competitions once again like before. The onus will be on the club’s new signings including the 24 year old Lovro Majer to help the side achieve its objectives hereon.
