Lazio and Atalanta both want to sign the €30m Real Madrid prodigy

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claims that Real Madrid forward Reinier Jesus will go out on loan once again this summer. Lazio and Atalanta are both interested in signing him, so he might soon be moving to Serie A.

Not very long ago, Reinier Jesus had critics in his own country comparing him to Kaka. Before settling down at Flamengo, he got his start with four different Brazilian teams. Real Madrid came calling soon after, and they paid €30 million to sign him.

Despite making a few games for Real Madrid Castilla, the 21-year-old has struggled to get into the main squad. The Brazilian youth has spent the previous three seasons on loan, and each one has been forgettable. Reinier moved on to Girona in the summer after a disappointing two years with Borussia Dortmund.

Yet, the Brazilian striker has only played in 10 games for the Catalan club thus far, totaling only 343 minutes of action. Hence, Reinier’s development has been stifled ever since he joined Real Madrid. The prospect of the young player breaking into Real Madrid’s starting lineup next season is slim. Both Lazio and Atalanta of Serie A are eager to recruit him this summer.

The future of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic on a long-term basis is a hot topic at Lazio. The Serbian midfielder is set to leave the Serie A club in the next summer transfer window. The Biancocelesti now have Reinier on their list of potential candidates.

Gian Piero Gasperini, on the other side, is leading a small Atalanta team. They might benefit from taking on the loan of the Real Madrid attacker for the 2022–23 season. Brazilian teams are also in hot pursuit of Reinier, making it difficult for Lazio and Atalanta to sign him.

Clubs continue to compete for the signing of the Brazilian prodigy despite the fact that he has yet to establish he is worth €30 million. In the next summer transfer window, it will be intriguing to watch where he ends up.
