Kerem Demirbay joins Turkish league following his departure from Germany

Kerem Demirbay is on verge of joining Turkish club, Galatasaray after leaving Bayern Leverkusen via this season’s transfer window. The negotiations with regard to the player’s transfer were taking place over the past several days.

Demirbay who had joined the German club in 2019, is all set to leave with his destination almost finalised to be Turkey. Galatasaray would thus be adding another player to its attack after having recently signed Argentine striker Mauro Icardi on a three year deal last month. Another player whom the club have signed lately is Wilfred Zaha from the Premier League.

Kerem Demirbay to join Galatasaray upcoming season onwards

Several sources recently confirmed that Kerem Demirbay’s move to Galatasaray is now complete. The transfer fee is €3.7m. The club’s official Twitter account made a post welcoming the player. The caption of the post read “Welcome to the family, Kerem Demirbay!”. Galatasaray have also confirmed several details regarding the deal. The Turkish club shall be paying $4.04m to Bayern Leverkusen. Meanwhile Demirbay shall be earning a sum of one million euros per season.

Kerem Demirbay began his senior career with Hamburg in the 2013/14 season. He was loaned out to FC K’lautern and F Dusseldorf in the following couple of seasons respectively. He thereon made a permanent move to Hoffenheim in 2016/17. The player made 88 appearances during his 3 year stay at the club. He scored 12 goals and provided 27 assists in theeantime. The summer of 2019/20 season saw him move to Bayern Leverkusen. The midfielder played 149 games for the club scoring 15 goals and assisting 30 until 2023. The 30 year old will certainly be a fine addition to Galatasaray.

Galatasaray in recent times have been in miraculous form. The club won the league last season after having accumulated 88 points in 38 games with ,28 games. The league title last season was Galatasaray’s first in four years and 23rd overall. The team will be looking to continue its wonderful performances in the upcoming season as well. The onus will be on their host of new signings including the latest signing of Kerem Demirbay to help the side achieve its objectives in the times to come.
