Julian Nagelsmann set to be the new head coach of Germany
Ex-Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann is all set to join the national side as a head coach ahead of the Euro 2024. Julian accepted the offer taking a huge pay cut to join the national side after getting sacked by Bayern in the middle of last season. Nagelsmann is still under contract with Bayern and the Bundesliga winner will be terminating his contract to make his way clear to the German Football team replacing Hansi Flick. The 36-year-old needs to work hard since Germany will be hosting the Euros 2024. He will be getting around €4 million in salary.
Germany replaced Hansi Flick with Julian Nagelsmann
Hansi Flick who has been associated with the German National side since 2021 was sacked by the German Football Association after their 4-1 loss to Japan during the international break. Germany was also knocked out of the World Cup 2022 at the group stage.
Nagelsmann was appointed by Bayern Munich in 2021 for a world record managerial transfer worth €25 million making him the most expensive manager ever. He won the Bundesliga title in his debut season but was sacked as the manager of the club in March 2023.
Nagelsmann is considered one of the best young managers in the world. He has managed teams like TSG Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig, and Bayern Munich and has now got a call from the German National side. He has a winning percentage of 40.4% with Hoffenheim, 56.8% with Leipzig, and 71.4% with Bayern Munich.
Nagelsmann is known for his versatility with formations, maintaining possession, and implementing gegenpressing. The team, after losing possession, immediately attempts to win back possession, rather than falling back to regroup. Nagelsmann was in the talks of top clubs like Chelsea, PSG, and Tottenham in the summer but they all signed new managers.
Nagelsmann’s first match as the manager of the national side will be against USMNT in an international friendly this October. His main goal will be the European Championship 2024 which is scheduled to start from June 14 with Germany hosting the event. He will be getting enough time to prepare for the tournament and bring his team on the track.
