Argentine professional footballer Charly Alcaraz has signed a new deal with his club – Southampton recently. The negotiations with respect to the player’s new deal were taking place over the past few days. The player who has joined Southampton around an year ago is now all set to lengthen his period of stay at the club even further. The player’s new deal with the club has almost been completed as per the confirmations of several sources.
Charly Alcaraz extends his stay at Southampton
Fabrizio Romano via his official revelation let everyone know that Charly Alcaraz’s new deal with Southampton has been completed. The player has signed a further one year extension valid until the year 2028.There was interest from Portuguese top clubs last summer but Alcaraz decided to stay.
Charly Alcaraz who was born in 2002 began his senior career with Racing club in 2019 at the age of 17. After having played 83 games for the club in nearly three years, he made a move to Southampton in the year 2022. He has been fairly impressive during his time at the club so far. The player has played 31 matches for the team till date across all competitions scoring 5 goals.
The player is yet to represent Argentina at the senior level. He was included in the team’s squad once recently a couple weeks ago during the international friendlies but failed to get any gametime throughout the international break.
Southampton haven’t been in good form at all lately. The side finished at the bottom of the league last season. With just 25 points in the 38 games, the team was inevitably relegated to the championship following their poor display in the 2022/23 season.
The team’s major motto now will be to perform well in the Championship this season and find the area back into the Premier League. The onus will be on the team’s current youngsters including Charly Alcaraz to help the side achieve its objectives hereon.
