Bernardo Silva signs new deal with Manchester City

Portuguese international Bernardo Silva has signed a new deal with Manchester City recently. The discussions with regard to the player’s extension were taking place over the past few days. The player who had joined Manchester City around 6 years ago back in 2017 is all set to sign a new long term deal with the English club. The player’s contract extension has almost been completed as per the confirmations of several sources.

Fabrizio Romano via his official revelation let everyone know that Bernardo Silva’s new deal with Manchester City has nearly been signed. The player shall be signing a new deal that will be valid until 2026. The deal includes a release clause of £50m which shall start only from next summer.

Bernardo Silva who was born in 1994 began his senior career Benfica in 2013 at the age of 19. He joined Ligue 1 club Monaco the following year. The Portuguese played close to 150 matches for the team in three years before making a move to Premier League club – Manchester City. The 29 year old has played 84 games for the Portugal team at the senior level and scored 11 goals.

The midfielder has played 311 matches for the club till date scoring 56 goals and providing 60 assists. He helped his side win the Champions’ league for the first time ever in their history last season after beating Inter Milan in the final.

Manchester City has been in fantastic form lately. The team lifted the Premier League title last season for a third consecutive time. City also are the current holders of the Champions’ league. The team’s next motto hereon will be to continue their fine run in the league and also successfully defend their Champions’ league title this season. The onus will be on the team’s champion players including Bernardo Silva to help the side achieve its objectives hereon.
