Arthur Melo won’t be departing Liverpool in January

In the January transfer window, Juventus loanee Arthur Melo will not be leaving Liverpool, according to transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano. The Athletic reports that after suffering thigh surgery in October, the £126,000-a-week midfielder has made just one appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s team.

It was thus expected that Arthur Melo would depart Liverpool in January, with the most recent rumour tying him to Palmeiras. Many observers, like Phil Thompson, have been vocal about their dissatisfaction with the progress so far between the Brazilian and the Reds.

The veteran told the Express, “[Jude] Bellingham would be ideal but I just feel, like most Liverpool fans, we just need a bit of reinforcement in there. I don’t think the signing of Arthur Melo helped us in any way. It just didn’t seem to fit in, he lacked game time, so I don’t think that was helping us at all. But we certainly do need somebody.”

It’s hard to argue with Phil Thompson, but it doesn’t seem like Liverpool superstar Arthur Melo will be leaving the club in the new year. The most recent information on the 26-year-old is described in a recent update. Arthur Melo will not be leaving Liverpool in January, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian reporter also claims that the Juventus midfielder is working very hard to get well. As an added bonus, the player hopes to make an impact for the Reds after he returns from injury during the second half of the season. Ultimately, this news may upset Liverpool supporters since it suggests that the club will not be acquiring a new midfielder in January, as was previously hoped.
