Anwar El Ghazi closing in on a move to Bundesliga club following PSG exit
PSV player Anwar El Ghazi is on verge of joining the Bundesliga on a free transfer. The negotiations with respect to the player’s move were taking place over the past few days. The player who had joined PSV only last year is now all set to make a move to Bundesliga club – Mainz. The player’s move to his new club in Germany has almost been completed as per the confirmations of several sources.
Anwar El Ghazi to join Mainz on a permanent deal
Fabrizio Romano via his official revelation let everyone know that Anwar El Ghazi’s move to Mainz is nearly a done deal. The player shall be joining the club on a permanent deal. The dutch was available as a free agent following the termination of his contract at PSV previously.
Anwar El Ghazi who was born in 1995 began his senior career with Ajax in 2014 at the age of 19. After having played 100 matches for the club in three years, Ghazi made a move to Lille in 2017. A couple years later he was loaned to Aston Villa, wherein his move became permanent the following year. He played a total of 119 games for the club until 2022 before joining PSV last season. He made 31 appearances for the Dutch club in 2022/23 scoring 9 goals in all.

Mainz has been in fairly good form lately. The team finished 9th in the league last season. With 46 points in 34 matches throughout the season the team failed to cement its place in any of the European competitions for the upcoming season. The team’s start to the current season too hasn’t been a good one as they’ve lost three of their four opening league games so far.
The next major motto for the team will be to perform better in the remainder of the ongoing league season. The onus will be on the team’s new signings including Anwar El Ghazi to help the side achieve its objectives hereon.
