Middlesbrough striker Chuba Akpom has joined an Eredevisie club via this summer’s transfer window. The negotiations with regard to the player’s transfer were taking place over the past few days. The player who had joined Middlesbrough back in the 2020/21 season has now parted ways with the club and is destined to join none other than Dutch club, Ajax. The player’s move to his new club in Nederlands has been completed as per the confirmations of several sources.
Chuba Akpom joins Ajax on a permanent deal
Fabrizio Romano via his official revelation let everyone know that Chuba Akpom’s move to Ajax has been completed. The Dutch club signed the striker on a deal worth €12.3m deal plus €2m add-ons. The agreement has been signed and sealed as the player shall soon be joining his new club. China’s initial reaction to joining the club has been that of sheer joy. He said that he is on his way to face a new exciting challenge with one of the best clubs in the world, Ajax.
Chuba Akpom who was born in 1995 began his senior career with the Premier League club, Arsenal back in the 2012/13 season at the age of just 17. He got to make his senior career debut with the club in the upcoming season.
He however never managed to make it to the senior side as a regular starter and just made 12 appearances for the club until 2017/18. During his tenure with Arsenal, he was loaned out to Brentford and Coventry City in the 2013/14 season. He joined Nottingham forest on loan the following season. Hull City signed him on loan in 2015/16.
He again spent the following three seasons at different clubs namely Hull City ,Brighton and Hove Albion and Stint Truiden, all on loan in the seasons 2015/16,2016/17 and 2017/18 respectively. He finally got to join a club on permanent deal in the 2018/19 season when he signed for PAOK.
After having scored 18 goals in 79 games in a three year period at the club, he made a move to Championship club, Middlesbrough in 2020/21 season. He is all set to begin his journey with Ajax hereon.
Ajax have been in fairly average rhythm lately. The club finsihed third in the league below Feyenord and PSV. With 69 points in 34 matches, the side failed to finish within top 2 and thus are out of next season’s champions league. They hall have to play in the Europa League qualifiers instead.
The club’s main motto will be to display improved performances in the upcoming league season and achieve significant results in the Europa League. The onus will be on the team’s new signings, especially on striker Chuba Akpom to help the side achieve its objectives hereon.
