According to TyC Sports in Argentina, Liverpool has agreed to acquire Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister for a reported £70 million this summer.
Liverpool has known for a long time that their midfield is a weak spot. Many observers blame Jurgen Klopp’s squad’s struggles this season on the manager’s failure to bolster the position. The Reds are now fifth in the Premier League and out of the UEFA Champions League next season after being eliminated from all cup tournaments.
Liverpool’s midfield is already thin. It’s expected to become thinner with the upcoming exits of James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. There is no indication that the loan deal from Juventus involving Arthur Melo will become permanent.

In January of 2021, the Seahawks paid Argentinos Juniors £7 million to acquire Mac Allister from them. After spending another five months with his old club and a loan spell with Boca Juniors, he established himself as a crucial player for the English team.
The midfielder, who was born in Santa Rosa, has played 109 times for Brighton, scoring 20 goals and dishing out eight assists. In addition, he has appeared in 16 games for Argentina, including six in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Mac Allister started all but one of La Albiceleste’s seven games in the World Cup in Qatar, which they ultimately won. In Argentina’s 2-0 group-stage victory against Poland, he scored his first goal for the national team.
