Many major European clubs are reportedly planning bids to acquire Rafael Leao this summer, making him one of the sport’s hottest commodities.
Several of the top clubs in the world, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, are allegedly interested in signing the Portuguese attacker.
Spurs and Arsenal are two of the most successful teams in the league, but they may not be the favorites.
Furthermore, Leao has gone on public expressing his distaste for London, noting that he doesn’t enjoy the weather in the UK, presumably indicating that a transfer to England isn’t in the cards at the present time.
Leao spoke out about his predicament through the A Bola news outlet. Answering a question about facing Tottenham in the Champions League, Leao alluded to his hate of the United Kingdom.
“Before reaching Serie A I was in France, where the first year was difficult. They came in hard. But when you’re skilled, when you’re faster, you can create and make a difference. The second year was much better and I grew a lot. I have to show the world what I can do on and off the pitch,” Leao said.
When discussing football moves for millions of pounds, the weather may not seem like a major factor, but for certain players, it may be.
It’s true that players like Angel Di Maria and Nolito cut their stays short in England due to the climate and society, and it’s hard to hold that against them.
“I don’t like the weather there. I went shopping the first time I went to London,” Leao said. We would much rather be making millions in sunny Spain or Italy than in dreary London any day of the week. It’s unlikely that Leao will relocate to England.
