Tottenham Hotspurs has identified 4 replacements for the underperforming Hugo Lloris
Tottenham Hotspur is getting close to the day when they must find Hugo Lloris’ successor. The Frenchman has been a fantastic teammate for the Spurs ever since he signed there in 2012.
The former Lyon goalie is making more and more errors for the Spurs. In Sunday night’s loss to Arsenal in the North London derby, he made many costly mistakes. Even the fact that a Lloris howler isn’t seen as particularly shocking these days is telling.
He said: “Spurs are also considering a new goalkeeper. There are three or four names on the list at Tottenham. But they’re focused on January window, it’s too early to say who’s going be the new goalkeeper. Full focus is on January.”
Caught Offside spoke with Fabrizio Romano, who confirmed that the Lilywhites had four goalkeepers on their shortlist to replace the 36-year-old. One of the most disappointing things about Lloris is that he can produce really outstanding play.
And this is what has Tottenham’s manager, Antonio Conte, so baffled. How can he train the Frenchman to be more steadier and less prone to the gaffes that have plagued him for much of the season? There’s no easy answer, but with Lloris now 36, Tottenham would be wise to start planning for the future.
