Manchester United is ready to secure the signing of Jack Butland
With goalkeeper Jack Butland of Crystal Palace ready to come on loan, Manchester United are close to making their first January acquisition.
The Athletic claims that Jack Butland will soon undergo a physical and officially wear the Manchester United shirt for the rest of the season.
The English goalkeeper is expected to sign a loan agreement with no permanent transfer clause. The loss of Martin Dubravka to Newcastle United has left Manchester United short of at goalkeeper since Tom Heaton is not reliable enough to be relied upon as a starter.
United went for Butland during the summer transfer window while looking for a reliable backup to David de Gea. And then they settled on a contract for the Slovakian goalie.
It has been announced that Dean Henderson would spend the balance of the season on loan at Nottingham Forest. The management at Manchester United thinks it would be best for the Englishman to keep working on his game with the Tricky Trees.
Butland has Premier League experience and a home in Manchester thanks to his time with Stoke City. If Butland were to join the team, it would be because Erik ten Hag, the Dutch manager, has already given his blessing to his playing style.
United did not prioritize signing a goalkeeper this window, so Newcastle’s choice came as a bit of a shock. That’s why Manchester United have begun contract negotiations with Butland for the duration of the current campaign. The relocation is scheduled to be finished this week.
United will have to pay his salary for the remainder of the season as well as a small loan fee to Crystal Palace. It is believed that the Eagles are trying to put more pressure on the Chiefs to get Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Of course, such proposals are completely off the table for Manchester United. David de Gea, United’s Spanish goalkeeper, is set to sign a new contract that would keep him at the club beyond this season at a reduced salary. The Premier League club has also been looking for a striker to address their present issue, so an announcement for Butland might be made after he completes all the procedures.
