Victor Lindelof Transfer News: Is he leaving or staying at Manchester United?

Victor Lindelof Transfer News: Manchester United are reportedly willing to offer Victor Lindelof a contract extension. The 28-year-old central defender has recently found renewed success. Their leader, Erik ten Hag, has been impressed by his work, too. The Swedish international has gained the favour of the Dutch boss, who is considering a contract extension.

Prior to joining Manchester United in the summer of 2017, Lindelof rose through the ranks at Benfica. United’s former manager, Jose Mourinho, paid the Portuguese club £32 million to acquire the 28-year-old player. Since he joined the team, he has taken on a significant role.

The Sweden national team player has been hampered by injuries. And they have all seen his decline in the club’s social hierarchy. Over 220 of Manchester United’s games have included Lindelof as a substitute. While the 28-year-old was once a key member of their first team, he has been demoted over the past two years.

However, due to injuries to Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, he has been given more playing time. The Swedish international has turned up some great efforts. He has played more than 1,750 minutes on the field over 27 games this season.

The club has him under contract through the summer of 2024. The club does not want to lose the 28-year-old for free in the next summer transfer window, despite having just over a year remaining on his deal. They would also hate to miss out on him for nothing next summer.

His current deal with Manchester United has one additional year of options available. They want to exercise the option, which will keep him with the team until the summer of 2025. It seems like the smart choice, especially since Harry Maguire’s future is unclear.

Despite not being a regular in the first team, his play and demeanor have impressed Manchester United’s manager. And he’d love to have the £32 million superstar on his team for the next campaign.

The Red Devils have benefited from his work over the previous few games, and barring any major setbacks between now and the conclusion of the season, they should have him back next year. Manchester United would only contemplate selling him if they received an offer that was very close to the price they paid for him.
