Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are interested in acquiring Hakim Ziyech from Graham Potter’s Chelsea in the next January transfer window

According to GiveMeSport journalist Fabrizio Romano, Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are interested in acquiring Hakim Ziyech from Graham Potter’s Chelsea in the next January transfer window. Apparently, according to the Italian journalist, Villa has inquired with Chelsea regarding Ziyech’s availability.

The Moroccan international has drawn interest from Everton because of his versatility (he can play in offensive midfield or on the flank). It’s possible that Aston Villa may be able to acquire Hakim Ziyech from Premier League rivals Chelsea during the next January transfer window.

Even so, the Villans will likely have to fork up a hefty transfer price to get their man. The Chelsea forward makes £100,000 per week (SalarySport), so sending him out on loan for the remainder of the season seems like a waste of money.

Trading the offensive talent for cash now or in the summer of 2023 would make sense for the two-time Premier League and UEFA Champions League champions. Ziyech himself may now be persuaded to make a permanent move away from Chelsea.

The 29-year-old Morocco international had a strong showing at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and would undoubtedly benefit from playing regularly for a club.

Romano said: “English clubs are interested. Some of the ones you mentioned, like Everton and Aston Villa, are asking about the situation, but they have to pay.”
