Tottenham is competing with Aston Villa to acquire Dario Osorio
Tottenham is competing with Aston Villa to acquire Dario Osorio, a 19-year-old winger who has been a sensation at the Universidad de Chile.
The north London club has reportedly joined the increasing list of teams interested in signing Osorio, according to Las Ultimas Noticias via Sport Witness. However, a transfer for the attacker, who is just 19 years old, is not expected until the summer.
El Cancha recently reported that Wolves were close to clinching a £7m deal to transfer the striker to the Premier League earlier in the year. Osorio is already a Chilean international and is widely considered one of South America’s most promising prospects.
The excitement surrounding Osorio is justified; former Universidad goalkeeper Johnny Herrera compared him to Tottenham superstar Gareth Bale. The teenager is anticipated to make the move to Europe in 2023, with Tottenham showing interest in the right winger.
Tottenham will indeed be interested in any player who has been compared to Gareth Bale, and although a January deal for Osorio is unlikely, the club would be wise to explore the possibility of acquiring the young winger in the next summer transfer window.
Spurs may be in the market for Osorio, who would be a solid alternative for Antonio Conte next season and in the years to come, given that Dejan Kulusevski’s future at the club is uncertain.
To put it mildly, Tottenham’s transfer dealings over the last 18 months have been inconsistent. Despite these reservations, no Spurs fan would deny away the opportunity to bring in a South American prodigy like Osorio if given the chance.
As a result, Tottenham should do all in its power to acquire Osorio, who has the potential to become one of the finest strikers in global football if allowed to develop in the Premier League and mature into a top player.
