Ruslan Malinovski makes Serie A move following Marseille exit

Olympique Marseille player Ruslan Malinovski has made a move to the Serie A following his departure from the French league via this summer’s transfer window. The negotiations with respect to the player’s move have been taking place over the past few days. Malinovski who had been a part of Marseille for the later half of the last season is all set to join the Italian club – Genoa. The player’s move to his new club has been completed as per the confirmations of several sources.

Ruslan Malinovski to join Genoa on a loan deal

Fabrizio Romano via his official revelation let everyone know that Ruslan Malinovski’s move to Genoa has almost been completed. The player shall be joining the Italian club on loan along with a £10m buy option from Marseille. The medical tests have also been scheduled already for the Ukrainian midfielder.

Ruslan Malinovski who was born in 1993 began his senior career in the 2010/11 season with Shakhtar-3 Donetsk at the age of 18. After a period of three years, he was loaned out to Sebastopol. He again made a loaned move to another Ukrainian club- Zorya Luhansk in the 2013/14 season. After three years and 60 appearances at the club, he made a permanent move to Belgian club Genk.

He was a regular starter in his team and played 135 games for the team during his four year stay. He joined Atalanta in 2019/20 season. After having played 143 games for the side he left for Marseille on loan via the winter transfer window in 2022/23. His most recent stay at Marseille for half of the season saw him play 23 games and score 2 goals.

Genoa has been in fairly good form lately. The team finished second in Serie B last season. With 73 points in 38 games, the team has earned a promotion to Serie A once again in the 2023/24 season. The team’s major motto will be to continue their good run in the league and avoid any chances of getting relegated again. The onus will be on the team’s new signings including Ruslan Malinovski to help the side achieve its objectives hereon.
