Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Rúnarsson has joined a Championship club on loan via this summer’s transfer window. The negotiations with respect to the player’s move were taking place over the past few days. The player who had joined the gunners back in 2020 is all set to make a move to Cardiff City in the championship. The player’s move to his new club on loan has been almost completed as per the confirmations of several sources.

Fabrizio Romano via his official revelation let everyone know that Alex Rúnarsson’s move to Cardiff City on loan from Arsenal has been completed. The player had initially spent seasons on loan with a Belgian and a Turkish club each as well. The player is now all set to begin a new chapter with the championship club, Cardiff City.
Alex Rúnarsson who was born in 1995 began his senior career with Icelandic club, Reykjavik in 2013 at the age of 18. He joined Nordsjælland the following year in the Danish superliga. After having played 60 games in five years at the club, he joined French club – Dijon.
After a couple of years, the goalkeeper made a big move to Premier League club Arsenal. He however was loaned out in the following two seasons to Leuven and Alanyaspor in the upcoming two seasons respectively.
Cardiff City have been going through an extremely rough patch lately. The side hasn’t been able to deliver any impactful performances in the recent past. The side finished at the 21st position in the Championship last season. With 49 points in 46 matches the team was nowhere close to a position which could see them getting promoted to the Premier League.
The team’s major motto will be to achieve better results in the upcoming league season and keep hustling for a promotion to the Premier League in the times to come. The onus will be on the team’s new signings including Alex Rúnarsson to help the side achieve its objectives hereon.
