PSG Transfer News: Is Marco Verratti leaving PSG for Lionel Messi?
PSG Transfer News: Marco Verratti, a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), reportedly wants to leave France after learning about Lionel Messi’s potential departure.
Verratti has been with Les Parisiens longer than any other active player. In 2012, the Ligue 1 powerhouses paid Pescara, an Italian club, €12 million to have him join them. The midfielder has subsequently appeared in 413 games in all competitions for the French powerhouses, contributing 11 goals and 61 assists.
During his time with PSG, the Italy international won 29 honours, including eight Ligue 1 championships. The Parisians have a six-point lead in the league with three games remaining, and the midfielder is in prime position to add another league championship gold to his collection.
Verratti’s future at Parc des Princes is uncertain, however. The guy from Pescara reportedly plans to depart Paris this summer, as reported by the aforementioned source.
The story suggests that the Italian’s choice was influenced by concerns about Messi’s future at PSG. Verratti wants the 2022 FIFA World Cup-winning striker to sign a new deal beyond this season because of their strong friendship.

Messi will leave the club as a free agent, says transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano. Verratti seems ready to follow in their footsteps and quit his 11-year connection with Les Parisiens.
Meanwhile, if the rumour is true, PSG will not be an obstacle for Verratti, as club adviser Luis Campos is willing to find a solution for the midfielder. They’d also be happy to have the 30-year-old’s €11 million annual salary off their books.
Verratti reportedly wants to play for Real Madrid. According to the report, though, Los Blancos have no intention of signing the Italian. This raises the prospect of the player heading back to Italy.
