Ousmane Dembele Transfer News: Is Newcastle United interested in signing him?
Ousmane Dembele Transfer News: Sources say that Newcastle United are interested in signing Ousmane Dembele after agents spoke with the player’s camp during his recent trip to England.
The Barcelona winger, who has a little over a year left on his present deal, surprised fans by showing up at Sunderland’s Championship match against Sheffield United in March, when he paid a visit to his friend Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, the club’s chairman.
Despite being one of Barcelona’s most visible players since his record-breaking 2017 transfer to Camp Nou, Dembele has been plagued by injuries since his arrival. Indeed, the Frenchman has been out with a hamstring injury since late January and has appeared in just 120 La Liga games for Barca across almost six complete seasons.
Dembele’s trip to the North East was apparently brief, but sources have learned that the player’s agents did make brief touch with Newcastle’s intermediaries. Although the PIF-owned Magpies have spent handsomely on striker Alexander Isak, they have otherwise taken a conservative approach to their transfer business. However, if they qualify for the Champions League next season, they may speed up their ambitions to capture a number of quality talents this summer.

The 25-year-old fits the description and is interested in playing in the Premier League after almost signing with Chelsea last summer but ultimately decided to extend his contract at Barcelona.
Dembele accepted a pay cut in Catalonia, which helped the club rein in their escalating budget, but it’s believed that he may only be interested in signing a contract extension if he’s guaranteed a raise.
Barcelona is set to re-sign Lionel Messi from PSG, as well as Ilkay Gundogan, the captain of Manchester City, and maybe Bernardo Silva, so such an offer seems doubtful.
Even if the club’s leadership and manager Xavi have great regard for Dembele, he may be one among those who make way as Messi’s fairytale homecoming draws near.
The player is aware of his many possibilities throughout Europe, and in especially in England, and would contemplate departing if Barcelona did not make him a satisfactory offer. Chelsea is still interested, and both Arsenal and Manchester City are monitoring the situation. There are a number of interested parties, including Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
