Now that Anthony Gordon has been let go at Everton, Martin Keown has instructed Sean Dyche to replace him with West Ham United attacker Michail Antonio. In all likelihood, he will take over as manager of the Toffees.

After firing Frank Lampard, Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is looking for a new manager. The Merseyside club are now 19th in the Premier League standings, and the Goodison Park director took action. With just three victories to their name, they are dead last in the division in goals scored with only 15.

Seven clubs at the bottom of the league are separated by just three points, thus survival in the top division is still feasible. West Ham is one point over the safety zone. Wolves are 17th in the league but ahead of Everton and AFC Bournemouth thanks to a better goal differential.

After abandoning their pursuit of Marcelo Bielsa, Everton has turned its attention to Sean Dyche. According to The Telegraph, Moshiri’s negotiations with the Argentine on Thursday were unsuccessful. So he has continued talking with Dyche.

The man who has been unemployed since April of last year when Burnley terminated him expressed instant interest in replacing Lampard. However, he would have to take command and put out the flames immediately. Gordon’s long-term success will be a focus for the team and the league alike.

During the last days of the transfer window, Gordon is trying to leave Everton and join Newcastle United. The winger reportedly has already agreed to personal terms to join St. James’ Park, according to Fabrizio Romano. According to talkSPORT, the clubs’ respective values are just $5 million apart.

Gordon was a last-minute deal this month, and Everton wanted £60 million to let him go to Newcastle. Newcastle United have been steadfast in its refusal to pay Everton’s asking price for the 21-year-old. The Northern Echo reports that their maximum offer is merely £25 million, with a further £15 million in potential extras.

But if Gordon were to go for Newcastle, Keown thinks Dyche should try to get West Ham’s Antonio. In an interview on The Footballer’s Football Podcast, the Irons striker made the following statement:

“I’ve not ruled anything out. That’s all I can say. Nothing has been ruled out. There are talks.”

Sky Sports reports that West Ham will release Antonio if David Moyes acquires a second striker to complement Danny Ings. The 32-year-old was acquired by the Hammers from Nottingham Forest for £7 million in 2015. Keown has now recommended Dyche to talkSPORT:

“I think Sean Dyche sitting down with the players, meeting the players, finding out what is going on, ‘What character have I got in front of me? Is it bad? Can we repair the damage?’ Ok, no’. Right, Antonio might be available at West Ham. There are options – let’s get him.

“So, maybe his first step is to spend some of that money and get the player out. So, a lot of thinking to do for the manager and immediately you have got to get to work quickly. One assumes that he had one eye on the job and the team for the last number of weeks.”
