Saudi Arabia continues to surprise the footballing world with their amazing work in this season’s transfer window. PSG player, Marco Verrati becomes the latest player to join the list of names who’ve confirmed their move to Saudi Arabia this season.
The Saudi Clubs who’ve already made loads of players from Europe sign for them over the recent past, have just added another elite player to the league lately. Marco Verrati initially was being linked with a move to a Premier League club which would cost around a sum of £70m. However, Saudi Arabia’s pull once again made its presence felt as the Saudi club – Al Hilal ended as frontrunners to sign the midfielder so far.
Marco Verrati is all set to join Al Hilal on a permanent deal
Fabrizio Romano via his official revelation made it clear that the deal regarding Marco Verrati’s move to the Saudi Arabian club – Al Hilal is at its advanced stages. The Saudi club is closing in on an agreement with PSG for the signing of the 30-year-old. The contract that is offered to Verrati is of 3 years. Documents related to the deal shall be prepared/checked soon. It’s almost a done deal as per several other sources too.
Verrati who has been in fine form lately with his club is going to be a highly valuable addition to his new team in all possibilities. The midfielder who joined PSG back in the 2012/13 season shall be leaving the club after a long period of 10 years. The Italian player made as many as 416 appearances for the club during this time period scoring 11 goals and providing 61 assists.
Al Hilal who’s been a fairly consistent side in the Saudi Pro League has failed to achieve desirable results in the recent past to everyone’s surprise. The side finished third in the Saudi Pro League 2022/23. They will be keen to lift the league title which escaped their grip last year. Verrati shall be joining several other newcomers to the club from the upcoming season onwards. The club has made several more signings prior to this namely Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves and Milinkovic Savic. It will be interesting to see as to whether Marco Verrati is able to fit into his new team’s set up and bring value to the club as a whole in terms of quality performances.
