Lyanco makes a move to Qatar following Southampton exit

Southampton player Lyanco is closing in on a move to a Qatari club following his departure from the English club via this summer’s transfer window. The negotiations with respect to the player’s move were taking place over the past few days. The player who had joined around two years ago is now all set to part ways with the club so as to join Al Gharafa on loan. The player’s move to his new club in Qatar has almost been completed as per the confirmations of several sources.

Lyanco joins Al Gharafa on a loan deal

Fabrizio Romano via his official revelation let everyone know that Lyanco’s move to Al Gharafa has almost been completed. The player is joining the Qatari club on a loan deal. Lyanco’s contract with his new club shall be valid only for the upcoming year as the loan period shall come to an end in August 2024.

Lyanco who was born in 1997 began his senior career with Sao Paolo in the year 2015 at the age of 18. After spending three years at the club, he made a move to Serie A club – Torino. He made a total of 53 appearances for the club before leaving for Premier League club – Southampton in the season 2021/22.

The team got relegated to the championship following its poor display in the 2022/23 league season. Lyanco played 49 games during his two year stay at the club.

Al Gharafa have been in rather poor form lately. The team finished 6th in the league last season. With just 32 points in 22 matches, the team failed to cement its place in the upcoming season’s AFC champions league. The team’s major motto will be to deliver quality performances in the ongoing league season and finish higher up in the table.

With a win and a draw in two games so far, the team is fifth in the league table currently. The onus will be on the team’s new signings including Brazilian defender Lyanco to help the side achieve its objectives hereon.
