Liverpool and Arsenal lock horns for a super signing
According to reports, both Liverpool and Arsenal are eyeing Joshua Kimmich, a standout player for Bayern Munich, to sign with them this summer.
Since joining Thomas Tuchel’s team in 2015 from RB Leipzig for a reported £7.5 million, 28-year-old Kimmich has been a mainstay in the starting lineup. He has been instrumental in their lifting of 19 trophies, including seven Bundesliga championships.
Formerly a talented right-back, the 76-cap Germany international is now a right-footed defensive midfielder known for his passing and vision. He has developed into a top-tier centre player throughout his time with the Bavarians.
Liverpool and Arsenal, as reported by MARCA, are interested in signing Kimmich for the 2023–24 season. The Bundesliga club, though, is not ready to sell the midfielder for anything less than £52 million.
Kimmich, who is under contract with Bayern Munich until June 2025, wants to make the transition to Barcelona this next season. However, Blaugrana will have difficulty meeting the German’s pay expectations of £17.5 million every year.

Meanwhile, Liverpool is looking to add to their midfield and is actively recruiting. In June, free transfers will be given to James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
To better prepare for next season’s UEFA Champions League competition, Arsenal is also looking to bolster their midfield. Kimmich would replace Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, and Jorginho as the team’s primary starting midfielder if he were to join them.
Kimmich has played in 345 games for Bayern Munich, scoring 40 goals and assisting on 94 others.
