Leagues Cup semi final – Inter Miami vs Philadelphia – Match Report
Inter Miami registered a thumping win over Philadelphia in the semi final match of the Leagues Cup at the Subaru park. Thanks to this wonderful win, the herons are now through to the final of the tournament wherein they shall be facing Nashville FC. Inter Miami were clearly the better side on the field as they created more significant chances throughout the game and also capitalised on majority of them. Philadelphia didn’t really stand a chance against some brilliant display by the Lionel Messi lead side.
It took just three minutes for Inter Miami to open the scoring. Josef Martinez gave his side an early lead as he found a brilliant throughball laid on by Sethiya Kryvstov, and followed it up with a precise shot to find the bottom left corner with ease. At the 20 minute mark, it was Messi’s turn to add another goal to his account so far with Inter Miami.
The no.10 received the ball from Josef Martinez midpitch and carried it up towards the Philadelphia box. He unleashed a shot from way outside the box and found the bottom left corner with extreme precision to make it 2-0 for Miami. Miami managed to add another goal in the dying minutes of the first half. Robert Taylor found Jordi Alba with a brilliant throughball as the former Barcelona man smashed in a fine left footed shot to find the back of the net.
The second half saw some bit of resurgance from Philadelphia in terms of their attack. The side began creating fair amount of chances in opposition’s half of play. They finally managed to pull one back in the 73rd minute. Following a corner kick, the ball went through the melee and fell into the path of Alejandro Bedoya who smashed it into the bottom right corner to find his side’s first goal from close range.
Inter Miami however eventually wrapped up the game in style with a goal in the 84th minute. De Andre Yeldin found David Ruiz with a fantastic through ball. The 19 year old received the ball and followed it up with a brilliant shot to send it into the bottom left corner. FT:- Inter Miami 4-1 Philadelphia.
