Kyle Walker Transfer News: Is he leaving Manchester City?
Kyle Walker Transfer News: Despite rumours linking him to Aston Villa, Manchester City is content to have Kyle Walker finish out the last year of his current deal.
After manager Pep Guardiola explained that Walker is now unable to play in his new 3-2-4-1 configuration, Walker’s stock plummeted at the Etihad Stadium in recent weeks.
“He can’t pull it off. Kyle will still be the fastest player in this room when he is 60 years old. To play inside, you need to be able to move well, and he doesn’t have all of those things He has played as a fullback who moved inside before when there were four defenders. He has done a great job, but he can’t make this shape with three at the back and two in the middle,” Guardiola said.
Walker has been somewhat overlooked during Man City’s recent revival due to the emergence of players like John Stones, Manuel Akanji, and even Rico Lewis in the inverted right-back position.

However, reports say that Walker’s hometown club, Sheffield United, is the most enthusiastic about a reunion. Walker has been vocal about his support for the Blades, most notably during BBC Sport’s coverage of the team’s historic FA Cup victory against the Spurs at the beginning of March.
Sheffield United are now second in the Championship favourites and is anticipated to capture the runners-up slot, and they would love to bring Walker back to Bramall Lane if they earn promotion to the Premier League.
However, according to sources, City is content to let Walker finish out the last 14 months of his contract rather than aggressively pursue ways to get rid of him.
