Khephren Thuram Transfer News: OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram has been linked with a permanent move to Manchester City in addition to Liverpool

Khephren Thuram Transfer News: OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram, who has been linked with a permanent move to Manchester City in addition to Liverpool, has apparently opted to withdraw from the transfer sweepstakes.

Thuram, 22, has been one of the league’s best players since signing with Nice for nothing from Monaco in 2019. Playing mostly in the midfield, he has contributed to two fifth-place league finishes for his team.

Thuram, who plays with his right foot, has been linked with a move to Liverpool this past month due to his ability as a box-to-box midfielder. According to Foot Mercato, Nice are prepared to sell the player to Manchester City for roughly £52 million.

The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool has abandoned its pursuit of Thuram in favour of pursuing other midfielders in preparation for the next season. They reportedly aren’t prepared to pay the astronomical sum that Nice is demanding for its top player.

Khephren Thuram has played 136 games for the Ligue 1 club, contributing to 8 goals and 11 assists.

The Reds are keeping an eye on a number of midfielders in preparation for a potential next roster overhaul. Recently, they’ve been keeping an eye on players like Alexis Mac Allister, Mason Mount, Nicolo Barella, Manuel Ugarte, and Ryan Gravenberch.

Former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders said on talkSPORT that Trent Alexander-Arnold’s recent play in the centre of the pitch means the Reds don’t need to add a new midfielder.

The 24-year-old Alexander-Arnold has been given a fresh lease on life by Jurgen Klopp’s decision to put him in a transitional midfield position. In the previous seven contests, he has been a mainstay at double pivot for his team’s 3-2-2-3 formation. The defensive back has been instrumental in the Reds’ recent success, scoring six assists.
