Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool has long been interested in acquiring Ismaila Sarr from Watford

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool has long been interested in acquiring Ismaila Sarr from Watford, and it seems that they will have another opportunity to do so at the season’s conclusion. Liverpool has previously won the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League. Maybe this is the last, greatest shot they will ever have.

Liverpool has been keeping tabs on Watford winger Sarr “for years,” as Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported to CaughtOffSide in August 2022. According to Romano, Liverpool may pursue the Senegalese international winger after losing Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich last summer. But, Liverpool never did.

After Watford was relegated from the Premier League after the 2019-20 season, The Athletic reports that both Liverpool and Manchester United contemplated making a bid for the attacker.

As it turned out, nothing came of it. In September of 2021, former Watford teammate Ben Foster gushed over Sarr on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, calling him “frightening” and saying, “his acceleration is fantastic.” This may provide the Merseyside club with another opportunity to recruit Sarr.

Sarr will reportedly be leaving Watford at the end of the season, as reported by The Athletic this morning. The report claims that the £30 million winger will leave the Hornets regardless of whether or not they earn promotion to the Premier League from the Championship at the conclusion of the season.

After finishing last season in the Premier League, Watford was relegated and is now playing in the second division of English football.

At the conclusion of the season, Sarr will have just one year remaining on his contract, making him a potential bargain for Liverpool.
