In their pursuit of Jesse Marsch, the Saints seem to have hit a brick wall, but there are other potential candidates

After firing Nathan Jones, Southampton wasted little time finding replacements to lead St. Mary’s. In their pursuit of Jesse Marsch, the Saints seem to have hit a brick wall, but there are other potential candidates.

One possible candidate is Ivan Juric, manager of the Italian club Torino. The Athletic claims that Southampton has already made contact with the Croatian star after hearing about his spectacular performance in Serie A.

Juric has been steadily advancing as a manager in Italy, and he is now firmly established at Torino, who are currently eighth in the league.

One of Europe’s most forward-thinking coaches, Gian Piero Gasperini, is a mentor to Juric. Atalanta, under Gasperini’s direction, has risen to prominence in recent years and now plays one of the most entertaining styles of football on the continent. Juric, who worked as an assistant coach under Gasperini at both Inter and Palermo, has benefited from his mentorship.

According to reports, Gasperini is one of the finalists to replace Antonio Conte as Spurs manager at the conclusion of the current campaign.

Several of Gasperini’s concepts and philosophies have been adopted by Juric, making his teams incredibly entertaining to watch.

This season, Juric’s Torino squad has stood out, although they, like many Italian clubs, are struggling financially. As a result, they were recently compelled to sell a key player, Sasa Lukic, to Fulham, and other departures may follow.

There might be some danger in hiring Juric since he has never managed in the Premier League before, and managers from Serie A like Walter Mazzari and Franceso Guidolin have historically bombed miserably in England. After a disappointing few months under Nathan Jones’ leadership, Southampton is eager to put the past behind them, and Juric might be just the man to lead the club into a promising new era.
