Enner Valencia had been linked to Aston Villa, but it now looks like the striker will be joining Internacional in Brazil

Enner Valencia had been linked to Aston Villa, but it now looks like the striker will be joining Internacional in Brazil. Fabrizio Romano says Valencia has agreed to terms with the Brazilian club and is signing a pre-contract.

According to Romano, the Valencia arrangement is practically finalized and will last through the summer of 2025. Hence, Valencia cannot join Aston Villa.

According to the Sunday, Mirror Villa is trying to get Valencia to join them for free. There were rumours that negotiations were taking place for a one-year contract with a two-year extension, but so yet, nothing has come of it.

Valencia has agreed to join Internacional of South America, despite rumours that he will return to Barcelona. As the first Valencia connections surfaced earlier this month, heads turned at Villa.

Valencia had Premier League experience from his time at West Ham United and Everton, but he never quite found his footing there. No one expected Valencia to earn another shot at the Premier League after scoring 10 goals in 68 games for West Ham and 3 goals in 23 games for Everton.

Valencia, at 33 years old, has scored 23 goals in 30 appearances for Fenerbahce in Turkey. The striker performed well in Qatar, but a transfer to Villa looked out of the question.

Villa has Ollie Watkins up top, and despite losing Danny Ings in January, they gained a promising young player in Jhon Duran. A move to sign Valencia would have been unexpected given that Cameron Archer will return to Villa this summer. After selling Ings, Unai Emery may want to add another veteran striker to his roster, but it doesn’t seem like Valencia will be that player since he is leaving for Brazil soon.
