Despite interest from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers would rather trade Ruben Neves to a club outside of the United Kingdom. This is what The Mirror reports, citing anonymous sources saying Wolves are prepared to accept Neves’ departure this summer.
This summer is Wolves’ last opportunity to cash in on Neves before he goes for nothing at the end of his contract, which expires in 18 months. It has been reported that Wolves would consider bids for Neves, but they would rather ship him elsewhere.
Wolves are more interested in a deal with Barcelona for Neves rather than risking their star player signing with a Premier League rival.
According to the report, if Neves isn’t signed by another club before the conclusion of the summer transfer window, he may re-sign with Wolves.
Only a few days ago, 90Min revealed that the Premier League is quite interested in signing Neves.
As far as the media is concerned, the midfielder is wanted by Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur. The Liverpool midfield may need more than one new addition to help Jurgen Klopp’s squad this summer.
While Tottenham may make a number of changes, Newcastle may add another midfielder to assist Bruno Guimaraes in the centre of the field. Due to his expiring contract and previous experience in the Premier League, Neves will stand out.
All of these features make the Portuguese international a desirable player, and that’s before we even talk about his passing range and goal-scoring prowess from long range.
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville called Neves “a great, top player” and “sensational” after his performance at Molineux. If Neves is ready to take the next step in his career, then he should sign with a big club like Liverpool, Newcastle, or Tottenham.
It’s possible that Wolves will be a problem and try to get Neves to leave for another country, in which case Barcelona is the clear favorite to sign him.
