Demarai Gray makes a move to Saudi club following Everton exit
Everton player Demarai Gray has made a move to the Saudi Pro League via this summer’s transfer window. The negotiations with respect to the player’s move were taking place over the past few days. The player who had joined Everton around two years ago is now all set to part ways with the club so as to join Saudi club – Al Ettifaq. The player’s move to his new club in Saudi Arabia has almost been completed as per the confirmations of several sources.
Demarai Gray joins Al Ettifaq on a permanent deal
Fabrizio Romano via his official revelation let everyone know that Demarai Gray’s move to Al Ettifaq has almost been completed. The player shall be joining the club on a deal that has been agreed for $10m fee on permanent transfer. Gray will sign a four year contract with the club until the year 2027. The player has also completed his medical tests.
Demarai Gray who was born in 1996 began his senior career with Birmingham City in the 2013/14 season at the age of 17 in the championship. After having made 78 appearances for the club in close to three years, he joined Premier league club – Leicester City on the year 2015.
He stayed at the club for six years thereon during which he played 169 games scoring 13 goals. He played for Bundesliga club – Bayer Leverkusen in the 2020/21 season. The following year he made a move to Everton. The last two seasons saw him play 75 matches for the club.
Al Ettifaq havent been in good form recently. The team managed just a 7th place finish in the Saudi pro league in the 2022/23 season having managed just 37 points in 30 games with only 10 wins. The side will be desperate to see their players perform well so that their position in the league and other competitions get enhanced.
The onus will be on their newly signed players including Demarai Gray. It remains to be seen as to whether the Jamaican is able to fit into his new team and value to the club as a whole.
