Defender Yerry Mina signed by Fiorentina on a free transfer

Colombia defender Yerry Mina was left as a free agent after he terminated his contract with Everton. The 28-year-old center-back has been a former player for  Barcelona and Palmeiras, before the €30m sale to Everton in 2018. Serie A club Fiorentina have confirmed the deal to sign Colombian defender Yerry Mina to bolster their defensive unit. Fiorentina has been searching for a well-experienced defense after the departure of Igor Julio to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Fiorentina got hold of the chance to sign the 28-year-old defender as he was available for a free transfer and has secured his services for the coming seasons. His experience in the defense will be much useful for the Violas in the upcoming season.

Yerry Mina to move to Fiorentina leaving Everton:

Yerry Mina has been associated with Everton for the past five years. He has made nearly a hundred appearances for Everton in his tenure. He also played for Barcelona during the 2017/18 season, making only six appearances.

Mina started his career with a Categoria Primera A side named Deportivo Pasto in the year 2013. After appearing in 24 matches in the first season he moved to Santa Fe. He made 124 appearances, most by him for a side, and scored 12 goals in his tenure of three years.

He moved to Palmeiras in 2016 and played two seasons in Serie A. He made a total of 49 appearances and also scored 9 goals. He was then associated with Barcelona for the 2017/18 season and made just 6 appearances.

On 8 August 2018, Mina signed a deal worth €30 million with Premier League team Everton. His tenure with Everton has been impressive as the defender made 99 appearances in five seasons for Everton and scored 9 goals.

Mina made his first appearance on the national side in 2016. He shares the record for most goals scored in a single World Cup by a defender, with three scored at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He has made a total of 40 appearances for his national side with seven international goals after his name.

Mina’s stature, strength, and aerial prowess make him a strong part of the defense, and he has proven himself to be a dangerous presence on set pieces, often posing a threat in the opposition box.
