Dani Olmo has been linked to a transfer to Chelsea
If it becomes difficult for Chelsea to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk, they may shift their focus to Dani Olmo. Fichajes reports that Chelsea is considering a January transfer for Dani Olmo as Todd Bhely looks to bolster his offensive options. The RB Leipzig star might replace Mykhaylo Mudryk if the Ukrainian becomes unattainable, but Olmo is already the subject of intense attention from several other teams.
Dani Olmo’s contract status at RB Leipzig is concerning, and he might become an interesting possibility either this window or next summer. Because the Bundesliga playmaker’s contract expires in 2024, he has garnered interest from several suitors.
Currently, Leipzig has no intention of selling the playmaker, but they would consider an offer if it were sufficiently compelling. Olmo plays often for both the Bundesliga team and the Spanish national team. There is still growing support for him to return to his own country, and reports have indicated that Barcelona is eager to sign him.
The Catalans are reluctant to overpay for the Bundesliga playmaker, but they would consider an offer if it’s financially feasible. As a result, Premier League clubs continue to have a good chance of attracting Olmo to England, with Chelsea now joining the fight for the Spanish international.
To boost their lacklustre campaign, the Blues are looking to add offensive depth. It has taken some time for their attackers to find their groove, and owner Todd Boehly has been actively recruiting new talent. There is no discernible trend to Chelsea’s transfer objectives, although some well-known names have been brought up.
Olmo often plays in both wide and centre positions for his club and nation, and they need someone with those skills. After completing the transfer of Christopher Nkunku, Chelsea’s relationship with Leipzig has improved, and now negotiations for Josko Gvardiol have begun.
Depending on how the search for Mykhaylo Mudryk goes, the Blues may get in touch with Olmo in the next few days. Chelsea is interested in signing the winger, but the Ukrainian still favours Arsenal. Despite having two bids turned down, the Gunners continue to discuss a possible transfer with Shakhtar Donetsk.
There have been discussions between Chelsea and Shakhtar, but neither team has offered anything near the €100 million that the Ukrainian side is asking for. The high price tag may cause issues, but the Gunners are the frontrunners to sign Mudryk at the moment.
So, in case Mudryk doesn’t respond to their overtures or they can’t come to terms with Shakhtar, Chelsea would prefer to have a backup plan. To that end, they are looking into Olmo to see whether the Bundesliga’s star playmaker is available for a move this month.
