Chelsea officially secure the signing of the French defender Benoit Badiashile
Rising French defender Benoit Badiashile has signed with a Premier League powerhouse after a move from AS Monaco.
Chelsea has released a statement confirming the signing of Benoit Badiashile. The promising French defender has signed a seven-and-a-half-year deal with the west London side after arriving from AS Monaco. The Blues have allegedly spent €38 million for the teenage centre-back.
France has the largest pool of veteran players, and Benoit Badiashile is the newest exciting young talent to emerge from the nation. The 21-year-old has been on AS Monaco’s roster since 2016, and he was quickly promoted to the first team.
The promising French defender debuted in November of 2018 at the tender age of 17. Additionally, he has played an essential role for Monaco over the last four years, contributing to 135 matches. However, Badiashile’s time with Monaco has come to an end, and he will be taking his talents overseas to join Chelsea.
After Real Madrid entered the hunt for Josko Gvardiol, Chelsea began negotiations to sign Badiashile at the end of December. And the west Londoners have taken little time to negotiate a deal for the kid. The two had always gotten along well on a personal level. And they have now acquired his services.
Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano, will purchase Benoit Badiashile from AS Monaco for €38 million. The promising French defender has committed to the team for the next eight years, until June 30, 2030. The 22-year-old player has expressed his happiness at finally relocating to Stamford Bridge.
The young French defender stated, “I’m really thrilled to be here at Chelsea. I can’t wait to get started with the team. I can’t wait to meet the supporters and start playing in the finest league in the world.”
Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, meanwhile, issued a statement saying, “We are happy to welcome Benoit to Chelsea. He’s an exceptional young player who has swiftly created a good name for himself and has a significant lot of experience for his young age. As time goes on, we have no doubt that he will become an integral member of our team.
If Chelsea got him for €38 million, Badiashile may be a steal. The developing French defender is one of the top young centre-backs in the world. The Blues have solved a pressing issue and may have found Thiago Silva’s long-term replacement.
