Chelsea is interested in acquiring Aymeric Laporte from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City during the next summer transfer window
Rudy Galetti, a journalist for the Daily Telegraph, tweeted that Chelsea is interested in acquiring Aymeric Laporte from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City during the next summer transfer window.
Galetti claims that Chelsea is keeping tabs on Laporte’s status with Manchester City, Chelsea’s Premier League opponent.
Earlier this month, 90min revealed that the champions-in-waiting City is prepared to move Laporte during the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old Spanish international, who earns £130,000 per week (SalarySport), apparently wants to quit City after being benched. According to 90min, Barcelona is considering making a move for the centre-back.
There is a chance that Chelsea may be able to acquire Aymeric Laporte from Manchester City during the next summer transfer window. We now know that City will not prevent a player’s exit in exchange for a large transfer price.
For the Spanish international, Chelsea may be prepared to pay a high price. While Laporte is now not a regular starter for City’s first squad, he is still just 28 years old and performing at a high level.
This means that City might expect a high transfer fee if they decide to sell. Raheem Sterling’s transfer to Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer of 2022 prompted Chelsea to compete for the Premier League title the following season.
