Brazilian Left back Carlos Augusto signs for Inter Milan in an initial loan deal. The deal also allows the player to buy if certain performance-related objectives are hit during the 2023-24 campaign. Augusto agrees on a deal worth €13m and will be joining Inter Milan this season following Marcus Thuram, Juan Cuadrado, Yann Sommer, Kristjan Asllani, Davide Frattesi, and Yann Aurel Bisseck. Augusto replaces Robin Gosens who will be signing his contract as a new Union Berlin player right now.
Augusto will look to bring his red-hot form from Monza to Inter, giving Inter Milan the kind of incisive presence on both sides of the ball that is vital from the wing backs in coach Simone Inzaghi’s system.
Inter Milan adds Carlos Augusto to their squad for the upcoming season
The Nerazzurri confirmed the signing of the 24-year-old Brazilian left-back for the upcoming season from Monza for a deal worth €13m. As per reports, Augusto has signed a five-year contract with Inter until the end of June 2028 after his first year as a loan player. The 24-year-old will earn around €2.2 million net per season.
The 24-year-old wingback started off his club’s senior career back in 2018 when he made his professional debut for Corinthians in a friendly against Grêmio on 8 July 2018. He went on to make 22 appearances in three seasons for the Série A side and also scored one goal in his tenure.
The Brazilian made his next move to the newly promoted Serie B side Monza in 2020. He made his Serie A debut on 13 August 2022. He appeared in a total of 97 matches for Monza scoring 11 goals as a left-back for his side.
The 24-year-old young talent is yet to make his debut for his national side. He is expected to earn his senior international cap in the days to come as his performance has been impressive in recent years.
It remains to be seen as to whether the player is able to fit into his new team’s system and help the side achieve significant improvements in the times to come.
