Barcelona Transfer News: Manchester United would give Barcelona €100 million to capture Frenkie de Jong this summer
Barcelona Transfer News: It has been rumoured that Manchester United would give Barcelona €100 million to capture Frenkie de Jong this summer.
Catalan newspaper El Nacional reports that Barcelona is interested in acquiring Lionel Messi, Ilkay Gundogan, and Inigo Martinez this next summer. The team is also looking for a striker who can back up Robert Lewandowski and challenge for playing time.
Until they start making money, balancing their books, and complying with Financial Fair Play requirements, Barcelona will be unable to make any moves to acquire new players. Manchester United allegedly want to take advantage of the financially unstable Blaugrana by enticing De Jong away from Camp Nou.

Last summer, the Red Devils apparently made a deal with Barcelona, but the player remained uncommitted. Former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is still keen on signing De Jong, and Manchester United are willing to spend much to make it happen. To get the services of the 25-year-old central midfielder, United is prepared to pay €100 million.

De Jong may be a regular starter, but he is not a must-have for the team. Barca has put him on the transfer list because they can likely get a lot of money for him.
It may come down to De Jong’s preferences, even if Barca president Joan Laporta approves of the deal. As things stand, though, the Dutchman has no plans to leave Camp Nou.
De Jong has scored 15 goals in 178 outings for the 26-time Spanish champions since he was acquired from Ajax for €86 million in July 2019. In 2026, his contract will be over.
