Barcelona Transfer News: Barcelona has allegedly reached a deal to buy Fabrizio Diaz from Liverpool Montevideo for €8 million during the summer transfer window.
Since his first game with the senior team for Liverpool Montevideo in February 2020, Diaz, who is 20 years old, has become one of the best talents in Uruguay. So far, he has helped them win the Supercopa Uruguaya title, which they won in 2020.
The Uruguay U20 leader became well-known after he played well at the South American U20 Championships earlier this year. He is a right-footed, skilled player who can pass and work hard. In eight championship games, he scored five goals and set up two more, which helped his country finish second, behind Brazil.

Mundo Deportivo says that Barcelona and Liverpool Montevideo have reached a deal to sign Diaz for €8 million this summer. The Catalan team wants to put the Uruguayan player on their “B” team at first.

Diaz has a contract with the Estadio Belvedere until May 2026. If he joins Barcelona B, he won’t have to sign up for La Liga. He could keep getting better if he played regularly at the third level.
If Diaz makes a final move to Camp Nou this summer, he will likely be seen as Sergio Busquets’ replacement. He is good at making plays from deep, but he could also take on a reserve role.
In 116 games for Liverpool Montevideo, Diaz has scored five goals and helped set up seven more. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said in an exclusive piece for Caught Offside that Barcelona should get rid of out-of-favour right back Sergino Dest before the 2023–24 season.
Dest, who is 22 years old, went on loan to AC Milan last summer after having trouble fitting in at Camp Nou for the past two seasons. So far this season, only four of his 14 games for the top team in Serie A have been as a starter.
Dest has won a Copa del Rey since he joined the Blaugrana from Ajax in 2020 for a starting fee of €21 million. He has played 72 games for Xavi Hernandez’s team and scored three goals and set up four others.
