Arsenal Transfer News: Martin Zubimendi, a midfielder for Real Sociedad who was wanted by Barcelona, is allegedly close to signing with Premier League powerhouse Arsenal.

The Spanish media site Diario AS reports that the Gunners are interested in acquiring Zubimendi, a 24-year-old midfield pivot for Sociedad. According to reports, the Gunners have been in touch with Zubimendi’s representatives and are on the verge of agreeing terms with the midfielder’s team.

Furthermore, Barcelona, who have been connected with Zubimendi for some time, is said to have backed out of a transfer owing to the club’s problematic financial circumstances.

Sofyan Amrabat, a midfielder for Fiorentina, has reportedly caught the attention of the Blaugrana, according to renowned Spanish writer Gerard Romero.

Arsenal has been linked with a bid for West Ham United’s Declan Rice (via Sky Sports), in addition to Zubimendi. Although West Ham United have set a staggeringly high price tag of £120 million for the Englishman, Arsenal may be hesitant to fulfill that demand.

Transfermarkt estimates that signing Zubimendi would cost £34.80 million. To produce revenue and comply with Financial Fair Play standards, Mundo Deportivo reports that Ferran Torres is one of the players Barcelona wants to trade this summer. According to talkSPORT’s sources, Premier League clubs Arsenal and Aston Villa are both interested in signing the winger.

The player reportedly has no interest in leaving Camp Nou during the next transfer window. Despite not seeing much playing time under Xavi, the winger is still anxious to establish himself at Barcelona before his contract expires in June 2027.

The Spaniard hopes to log more playing time in the 2023–24 season, so he can benefit from a full preseason this summer. In 29 games played in La Liga this season, the ex-Manchester City attacker has scored four times. Only 13 of his 29 games have been as a starter.
